Prologue to "Murder in the Harbor"

If you read "The Doctor's Secret" you can skip this prologue. I promised to post a chapter a day while we are home in April staying safe. Today I will add a second post that's the first chapter of "Murder in the Harbor".

Pamela Lafave retires and returns to her small home town in rural northern Michigan after her husband has a fatal heart attack. She is living in her husband’s boyhood farm house, familiar to her from growing up across the road. She’s adjusted to her new life by reconnecting with local people and pursuing her interests in art and history. She hopes to put her years of detective work in Grand Rapids behind her, but a close friend is murdered. The bumbling local sheriff can’t solve the crime. Pam reluctantly steps up and with the help of her friends finds the murderer. After solving the murder she thinks she can return to her quiet life. Then a good friend is accused of murdering her husband. Pam realizes she’ll have to help prove her friend innocent.
